John 9th Chapter
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
Have you ever believed God for something that did not happen when you thought it would? Sometimes we pray for healing and even pray during church service, and the physical change doesn’t take place. We might leave service dejected and downcast, all because we didn’t get what we wanted when we wanted it. However, I would like to share this with you. Just because you did not get it when you wanted it doesn’t mean you will not get it! Let’s look at our text for evidence.
In our text, Jesus makes clay (In North Florida/South Georgia we call it “mud”) and covers a blind man’s eyes with it. Now, the interesting point here is that Jesus tells the man, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam.” This one word that Jesus said, “Go,” says a mouth full if we look at it closely enough.
First, this word “Go” tells us that Jesus had completed His mission of healing. Even though the blind man’s eyes were covered with clay, as far as Jesus was concerned, this man could see. Second, this word “Go” tells us that some type of action was needed on the blind man’s part. He had to “go.” Finally, this word “Go” tells us that in this man’s blindness, he had to make his way to the pool–with the promise of healing. Regardless of the difficulty of the task, the reality is this: Jesus said “Go,” and the blind man went. There was no spectacular fanfare on the way, no supernatural healing on the way, just faithfulness to God while bumping into the walls and stumbling along the highway.
Now, I say all of that to make this point: “Sometimes God does the miraculous; other times, He uses the methodical.” There is no doubt that His miraculous is awesome to see, and everyone desires the overnight miracle. But in many cases, our miracle is really dependent upon our consistency to do what the Lord told us to do, in spite of the obstacles that are before us. So stay faithful because God is faithful. Do whatever He told you to do because in the end, whether miraculous or methodical, God’s word shall come to pass over your life.
