He is Just that Faithful!

Romans 3rd Chapter
1What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?
2Much in every way! First of all, they have been entrusted with the very words of God.
3What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness?
4Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

Have you ever thought about how good God really is? As I was studying for the weekly radio show, I came across this text which showed me just how faithful God is to us. And it is through His faithfulness that we should easily see how good He really is.

The text begins by asking the question, “Is there an advantage to being a Jew (one of God’s chosen)?” Then it asks, “Is there value in the circumcision (a sign and seal of the covenant of grace as well as of the national covenant between God and the Hebrews)?” The third verse answers the question by stating that there is a definite advantage to being one of God’s people and having a covenant with Him. This should be no surprise to us; nevertheless, the text goes on to show us just how committed God really is to us.

You see, even though God’s people were trusted with His words and even though they had a covenant with Him, Paul asks the question, “But what if they don’t have faith in the word of God?” This is truly a serious question. Here God had entrusted His people, who were in covenant with Him, with His word. If anyone believed in His word, it should have been them. If anyone should have been spreading His word, it should have been them. But the question asked was, “What if they don’t believe His word?” And then a more serious question follows, “Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness?”

Now let’s ask this question in another way. Does God’s people not having faith nullify His faithfulness? The answer is found at the beginning of the 4th verse, “Not At All!” Good God Almighty!!!!!! If you really understand the first three words of the fourth verse, then you really understand just how faithful God is to His word and to you!

Of course the bible says, “without faith it is impossible to please him” (Hebrews 11:6), but it doesn’t say that He will not provide for you if you lack faith. Your faith can take you into the overflow, but even when you wonder, “Oh God will you?,” He always does! Even when you wonder, “Oh God can You?,” He always does! Because even when we will not be faithful to Him, He is ever faithful to His word – – never to leave us or forsake us – – which will not return to Him null and void.

Genesis 28:15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

It is by His word that He protects you. It is by His word that He blesses you. It is by His word that He made you. And it is by His word that He will continually provide for you because He Is Just That Faithful!
