The Only Option!

2 Corinthians 4:18 “[W]e look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

In every area of our lives, we have the awesome opportunity to trust God. But the devil desires to see us stand face to face with the Creator of the universe and tell Him five fatal words: “God, I don’t trust you.” Now, there is so much that we can share about God and the Devil, but to be brief, I will share only one characteristic of each:

God:
Numbers 23:19a “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent….”

The devil:
John 8:44 “He [the devil] …abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

It’s not hard to see that God is not a liar and satan is the father of lies. So the simple question is this: Whom do you trust? The major problems we face occur when we respond to what we see (the lie), which is not how the situation really is. But what I want to share with you today is this: “just because it looks that way doesn’t mean that it is that way.”

This reality is why Paul tells us in so many words, “we (the ones who know about eternity and eternal things) don’t look on the temporal things.” You see, satan is an illusionist. It is his purpose to make False Evidence Appear Real (FEAR). Once he evokes fear in you, he can get you to buy into the illusion and operate contrary to the word that God has spoken over you. And once you focus on the illusion and operate in the illusion, through your actions (that are contrary to the word of God), you essentially tell God, “God I don’t trust you!”

But beloved of God, who else is better qualified to be trusted than the God of heaven and earth? The One that will not lie! The One that will not steal! The One who will provide everything you will ever need! Who else is better qualified to be trusted than God? He’s not a magician who uses trickery; instead, He’s the Creator who gives us the one thing that is first and final, the one thing that crosses time, space, and dimensions–both spiritual and physical – – – – His Word!

Because God does not lie and because His word is final over every situation and outcome, saying, “God, I don’t trust you,” through our actions, opinions, or words, is not an option. In spite of how the situation looks, feels, or sounds, the only option we have is to trust God!
