From July 25-29, Restored Glory Christian Center held its “God Made Me a Winner” Vacation Bible School and nearly doubled the previous year’s attendance record.Throughout the week, 78 children and over 35 adults came to the church to learn, fellowship, volunteer, and have fun in the name of the Lord. In addition, twenty of the participants confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and five joined the church. The VBS lessons focused on the early life of David and taught participants valuable lessons to help them see themselves as winners. The topics were “God sees my heart,” “God helps me remove problems,” “God give me courage,” and “God equips me to win.” Dinner was served nightly, followed by praise and worship, with outdoor games and arts and crafts to supplement the lessons.
The VBS ended on Friday night with a pizza and ice cream party, which included rap, dance, and scripture search contests. Winners for each category were awarded Toys R Us gift cards, and all contestants received Christian-themed bracelets. VBS participants were also treated to a musical performance by Christian rapper, “Boogie” (Steve Banks).
The VBS concluded with each child being awarded a certificate of participation, as well as a booklet, I’m a Winner: God Made Me That Way, which was written by Veronica Yon (wife of Pastor Eddie L. Yon).
Restored Glory would like to thank all of the volunteers who gave their time, talent, and treasure to ensure the success of the event and to Burger King (Monticello),Walmart (Tallahassee, Mahan Dr.), and Pizza Hut (Monticello) for their services. The church also thanks the parents and children who participated and contributed so much to a winning Vacation Bible School at Restored Glory Christian Center. To God be the glory!
