Power of Expectation

The Power of Expectation – Part I

Psalms 62:5  My soul,
wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Have you ever received a "bad" expectation? Now
what we mean by a "bad" expectation is one of failure, hopelessness
or doom. Here’s an example. You want to apply for a new job, but your friend
tells you, "It’s really hard to get on with XYZ company unless you know
somebody." Well I’m here to tell you today about the  Somebody you need to know — God!

What we must understand and learn is that there is power in
expectation sent from God. However, one thing that will negate that power is
receiving "bad" expectations from other sources.  This is why we are told from our text,
"My soul, wait thou ONLY upon God." The word ONLY implies that we
wait not for our friends to tell us, not for our bosses to order us, not
for  our mothers to direct us and not
for our daddies guide us. Why? Because in the process of waiting on
encouragement from men we could be discouraged by what comes from them. I’ve
really got to share this with you.

A few years ago I was in a K-mart. I came upon a little boy
who was playing. A few minutes later his mother walked up and said to me,
"Is he being bad?" I replied, "No… Not at all." She
stated, "well he’s very bad." I then said, "No he’s not
bad." Then I said to the little guy, "You aren’t bad are you?"
He looked up at me and said, "Yes I am!"

Unfortunately, this mother had sown bad expectation into her
child , and it is going to take some work to remove it. The same holds true for
all of us. Letting someone sow "bad" expectation within will require
more work to remove than just placing God’s expectation within.

God’s expectation or shall I say "good"
expectation is very vital in the upcoming move to the body of Christ. We are
about to walk into an overflow of financial prosperity. For the children of God
who are tithers and who are in financial covenant with God, EXPECT INCREASE!!!
There is a reason God’s got you tithing, so that your increase will come. And guess
what else? God does not intend for the increase to stop. Don’t think that the
Lord has opened up the spigot just to turn the thing off. No, No!!! Get ready
to receive the blessings of the Lord.

Malachi 3:10 – "Bring ye all
the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove
me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to
receive it."

We have got to stop our religious thinking,  believing that God is out to get you when
you mess up. Really, HE’S OUT TO BLESS YOU!!!
In Malachi 3:10, the Lord tells us, "prove me now." To me that
sounds like we should be "expecting" Him to bless us for our
obedience. It sounds like we should be "expecting" to be the head
only and never the tail. So don’t be surprised when God gives you the
expectation of becoming a supervisor. Just this morning I received an email
from a friend who receives our messages and she wrote this:

"Just wanted to share that I
was picked up on a program called Developmental Opportunity Program (DOP) on
the base. It is a training program. The funny thing about it is that my present
job I assist the classifier; now I will be the classifier."

Obviously, God saw this person beyond where she is — or
shall I say where she was and he promoted her!   Also she saw herself the same way.  If you can’t see yourself as promoted, advanced, elevated and
upgraded — God can. Where you are may be good, but it’s not your final destiny.
If you don’t have expectation ,  you
lack a "good thing." Therefore, seek the Lord and get your "good
thing" — an expectation that will excel you and not expel you.

Psalms 34:10 – "The young lions do lack, and suffer
hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing."
