Free ’em

Tidbit Text: "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and
blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might
destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them
who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."
(Hebrews 2:14,15 )

Last weekend we (The Lord & I) went to my sister’s house where we
noticed her boyfriend’s two boa constrictors. Next to the snakes’ aquariums
were two adorable gray rabbits in a cage. Now once I put two (snakes) and two
(rabbits) together I finally got the big picture — "Lunch."

At that point, I felt sorry for the rabbits because of the fate that they
would soon meet, so I reached down to the cage and asked the Lord, "Can I
Free ’em?" He said, "No," and immediately I knew why. I didn’t
pay for them; therefore, I didn’t have the power (or authority) to free them.

Now we should thank God that our situations are different. Our text tells us
that He [Jesus] was made flesh and blood to destroy the source of death — the
devil. Not only that but He is going to deliver those who were subject to
bondage all their life. That’s right — whatever you’re bound to no matter how
long you’ve been bound to it, He can deliver you from it!!!

But…..there is a huge word in our tidbit text that we should not overlook:
MIGHT! The text tells us that through His [Jesus’] death He MIGHT destroy the
devil. Why is this? Well, even though Jesus does have the power, authority and
dominion to destroy the demonic forces in our lives, in order to do so, we have
to do our part—-get saved and operate within God’s will. If we do this we
then can walk in freedom and tell satan, "He [Jesus] will destroy your
works in my life!! I don’t have to be bound to death, depression, sickness,
loneliness or any of your demonic works because Jesus paid for my freedom in
full with His blood!!" Praise His Holy Name!!!
