His Word Will Prevail!

Genesis Chapter 1
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Today, I want to talk to you about the problems of life. Some are marital, others are monetary, and others are medical. But no matter what these problems are, there is a greater force at work – – – God’s word!

So just how powerful is God’s word? All-Powerful, and here is how our text proves it as such. In verse 3, God spoke the word for light to exist, and the light knew to do only one thing – – – EXIST! Another way of saying this is, God basically said, “Light Be!!!,” and all the light knew to do was “to be” and to “keep on being.” The light did not know when or where to stop because God did not tell it to stop.

However, as the light continued to go and go, God did have to set a boundary. That evidence can be found in the latter half of 4th verse: “and God divided the light from the darkness.” In other words, God’s word is so powerful that had He not created a “dividing line” between the light and the darkness, the light would have consumed the darkness. Now to me, this is an awesome display of the finality of God’s word over your life, and here’s why.

First, this text shows us that if God speaks, His word will continue on and on and on. Just like the light that went on and on and on, His word over you goes on and on and on until He tells it to stop. You see, God has called you blessed, so that means you are blessed until Jesus comes back and then some! You are blessed in the beginning, you’re blessed in the end, and you are even blessed in between time and in the meantime (Deuteronomy 28:6). And the blessing does not run out, it does not run down, and it does not need a recharge; it works as long as we decide to work it!

As Deuteronomy 28:1 tells us, if we “hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord” and “observe” and “do” that which He has commanded us to do, we will have what God says we have: healing, wholeness, salvation, peace, wealth, joy, and righteousness, to name a few. Why? Because God did not give the blessing a stopping point or a boundary. This is why His word (“Light”) consumes the mess (“darkness”) we’ve been struggling with. This is why His word (“Light”) overtakes the curses (“darkness”) the enemy is trying to put on us. And the problems we are facing can’t stop or slow down His word either. Yes beloved of God, His word will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). God’s word will do and will keep doing what He told it to do. As long as His promises are out there, just like His light is still out there, God’s word will prevail!
