Rest In Him!
Psalms 37:7 “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
The one thing our world can do well is show us who the newest millionaire is. It’s gotten to the point where even T.V. game shows are now offering to make overnight millionaires. Of course, there is nothing wrong with being rich, but some of us might be struggling to pay the light, phone, cable, car, or house note. And all of this is going on while we are believing that God is going to bring us out into a wealthy place. Now what are we supposed to do when we’ve received the promise of financial stability in our hearts, yet in the present, we are faced with the bill collectors? Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.
God has a plan to get you out of what you’re in. Just rest in that plan. Now what I mean by resting is this: relying on and being assured that His plan will work for you. If God has spoken to your heart about a strategy, stick with the strategy. Don’t leave it. Don’t forsake it. Don’t cast it by the wayside. Stay faithful to the strategy because in due season the promise shall occur.
Again, am I against your being rich? No! As a matter of fact, I believe that God has a breakthrough coming for you. I believe that you will see, taste, touch, and experience the best life you could have, and you will enjoy it for many, many years. But while you’re on your way out of your struggle, my message for you is don’t be jealous of what others have because you don’t know what they might be “missing.” Can I say that again? Some of the biggest “haves” are even bigger “have-nots.” No matter how much money they have, they can’t buy happiness. No matter how much property they own, they can’t possess peace. No matter how much jewelry they have, joy is nowhere in their midst.
You see beloved of God, to know that God loved you enough to send His only Son to die for you, to know He cares about you enough each day to watch over you, to know He has your best interests at heart 24-hours a day, and to know He will deliver you in a time of trouble is something that can not be purchased. To me, this is evidence that we can rest in the Lord. We don’t have to force our way into doors that aren’t open because God will open them at the appropriate time. We don’t have to cheat, con, and connive anyone to get one more dollar because God takes care of us. And for these reasons, in spite of our situations, we should be able to rest in Him.
